Frequently Asked Questions
You ask…and we answer. The questions below came straight from our interested parents and community members. Please feel free to contact info@rochesterplay.com if you have a specific question as well.
What age children will your child care at Rochester Play allow?
- We care for children ages 12 months to school age. We have two classrooms, one for toddlers and one for preschool/school age.
What ratio will you adhere to in each classroom?
-
Our toddler room will never go above eight children with two caregivers; keeping us at a 1:4 ratio.
-
Or preschool/school age room will never go above ten children to one caregiver; our goal however is to stay at 1:8 ratio. This is to provide more interaction with the children.
Do you have any preschool programs?
-
Rochester Play offers one of the most unique preschool options in the area. Our emphasis is on building children’s emotional and social development in a fun, active environment. We guide children in living a healthy life with an emphasis on green practices, recycling and keeping our bodies and community healthy. We use a unique, active approach to learning the alphabet called Zoo-Phonics and each of our Lead Caregivers have been through training to deliver this approach.
What time is the preschool program?
- 3 yr olds and early 4’s will meet Tuesday and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- 4 yr olds and early 5’s will meet Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
**Both programs include snack and lunch
Doesn’t Rochester Play have full time care?
-
No, we offer a part day option only. The maximum amount of time a child can be in our care per day is four hours. We are here to support parents but not to be a full time child care. We are here for parents to run errands, go to a meeting, go to the doctor, have lunch or dinner with a friend or simply to get some down time. Basically, anytime you want to do something specific and do not want to take your children, bring them to Rochester Play!
What kind of prices will Rochester Play charge for child care?
What is a “Member”?
-
A Rochester Play Membership allows families to “play” at our state of the art indoor play center as many times each month as they desire. Otherwise, children pay per play. It is the “best bang for your buck” and allows parents as many “time outs” for themselves as they need…one or thirty visits, it all costs the same!
When do you anticipate opening? This sounds great!

Someone told me you would have a café, is that true?
-
Absolutely! Our Play Café is a great place for the community to grab a healthy bite to eat… focusing on natural, locally grown with organic options. We will have a grab and go option for those in a hurry but still want healthy. We have a full menu of sandwiches, salads and soups. We have coffee, tea and several other drinks with monthly drink specials. The children’s menu is sure to please parents and kids. When you are in our café, you can catch up on the latest news and utilize our free Wi-Fi. A great place to stop when working, meet up with friends or just catch some quiet time while your kids run and play. We also offer box lunches for meetings and off-site events.
Isn’t there a Yoga Studio close to you?
-
Yes, and we will have an option to purchase “Updog Play” Packages that includes Yoga and Child Care. While you are relaxing and getting in your exercise, your child (ren) will be getting their exercise too. Then you can play and eat to celebrate! > |
