Family Traditions Holiday Celebration

The big man himself will be at Rochester Play to help us celebrate our first ever Family Traditions Holiday Celebration. You can reserve your personal spot to sit and talk with Santa-no lines or being hurried. You MUST pre-register for this event and there is a fee based on the number of children in your family. $25, $30 and $35. With the fee you get a keepsake pottery plate, a visit with Santa, Cocoa & Cookies and PLAY, of course. Reserve your spot today by calling 248-650-PLAY (7529) or stop in and register. Remember space is very limited. Members may register NOW and everyone else can register starting Dec. 6th.
Grand Opening – Oct. 12th from 4-6pm join Rochester Play as they do a formal ribbon cutting to celebrate our opening. Local author, Laura Cassar, will be doing a private reading of her book “A Night of 1,000 Pumpkins” and be available for signing purchased books. Plus, Pat Marsalese Photography will be doing FREE photo sessions and giving away a 5 X 7 for each session. Come and help us celebrate!

ROCHESTER PLAY BRINGS ON A SPECIALTY CHEF
ROCHESTER, Mich., May 28, 2010 — Randy Weed has joined ROCHESTER PLAY located inside the Old Library building, as its new Café chef specializing in “farm to table” cuisine. In his new role, Chef Weed enhances the Café with healthy menu with a commitment to natural and organic options.
Chef Weed brings a stellar history of cooking expertise to the Rochester Play Café. As both a student and a graduate, he worked at the James Beard Award- winning restaurant Tapawingo. Locally, he has served as Restaurant Chef of the Palace Grille at the Palace of Auburn Hills, as Sous Chef at the Detroit Athletic Club, and, most recently, under Iron Chef Michael Symon as Sous Chef of the Detroit Free Press 2008 Restaurant of the Year: ROAST.
"Randy’s expertise and flare for cooking will greatly benefit the Rochester Play Café,” said Jeff Schamanek, founder and owner of Rochester Play. “We are lucky to have someone of his caliber to lead to our initiative to provide healthy options for families. His energy and dedication will resonate throughout the café and create new options for our community. He is committed to meeting our stringent goals and has taken our initial ideas and enhanced each and every one of them.”
A graduate of Northwestern Michigan College with a degree in Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management, he currently resides in Royal Oak.
